Online Casting Sessions - Commercial Castings
The Audition Room is proud to be the first to offer Online Casting delivery of your castings – an impressive, user friendly and efficient service you can now offer your clients as part of your casting service!
How it Works
Let's say you have a casting session for “Product X”. You are calling 20 actors in for casting. Once you have booked a casting studio service with us, just let us know prior to the session's commencement, and in addition to recording the session in whatever format you choose (Mini DV, DVD, VHS etc) we will also record it in a web format ready for online casting. This additional recording requires nothing at all extra needed to be done by you while you are in the Studio during the Casting Session.
We then put the session up on the internet on a webpage, personalised for your business on a secure, password protected site.
At this point, we email you a web link and password. All you have to do is click the link, enter the password, and you are in. The right hand side page will display all the actor's photos from that casting session, with a “Play” symbol under each of those photos. Click the symbol for any given actor, and their casting scene plays on the left hand side of the page. It really is a simple as that!
You can then simply forward to your client the email we sent you with the web link and password. This means your client can have access to the casting scenes within 1- 2 hours of the casting session's conclusion – no matter where there they are in Australia – or the world.
Online Costs for Casting Directors - Commercial Castings
- Minimum job charge - $125
- Webpage Construction – $35 per page - 32 actors max per page
- Conversion and upload per casting scene $11
- Chapter dubbing – e.g. mini DV to hard disk for web conversion - $55 per hour (inc stock)
(NOTE – this charge is NOT applicable to casting sessions held at the Audition Room, as casting scenes are recorded here directly onto hard drive. This charge may also be greatly reduced if original material is received on DVD, as opposed to Mini DV.)
- Online jobs will be hosted by our server for a MINIMUM of 4 weeks after the shoot date of the commercial. Longer availability can be arranged – price dependant on size of webpages and files.
- PLEASE NOTE - a $45 per hour loading fee is applicable for jobs that run after 6pm weekdays, and for any Saturday / Sunday bookings. Minimum charge applies on weekends of $250.
FAQ
- What computer equipment do I need to have to view my castings online?
All you need is a broadband internet connection, and a computer with speakers. We can build the web files in either QuickTime or Windows formats, so there are no issues with Mac versus PC.
- How long does it take to get the casting session I have just finished online?
We can usually have the session online within 1 – 2 hours of the session concluding. If a session has been particularly long (i.e. 50 – 60 actors cast over the whole day) it may take longer.
- Once I or my client has viewed the casting online, can we watch it again?
Absolutely…just think of it as a DVD of the casting session online that you can watch over and over.
- If I use the Audition Room for an Online Casting session….does this mean I won't be given an ordinary hardcopy package at the end of the session?
No… we know that almost always that you will still need a Mini DV / DVD / VHS of the session as well, as well as all the associated paperwork that goes with it. However, we recently had a large off shore car commercial, cast over several days at the Audition Room, that was put online…the Casting Director's clients were overseas, and viewed the sessions in Europe from Sydney within hours of each day's casting. They were so impressed with the service that they requested that the Casting Director not bother with hard copy packages at all, thus saving hundreds of dollars in stock and international couriers.
- If I wanted to…is it possible to send my entire Casting Package electronically?
Yes! Whether you use our online services or not, we always supply you at the end of a casting session with a CDROM containing all your photos, running orders, and wardrobe forms (in a single, easy to navigate PDF file!). Therefore if you do also use the Online Casting facility, then it is easy to send the entire package electronically!
- What if I want only selected actors from the day's casting, or a shortlist only put online…is that possible?
No problem at all.
- Can I call you, say a week or two after the session, and change what appears online…e.g. a Shortlist?
Absolutely…we will not erase the files from your job on our end until you ask us to…be that at the end of the session…or up to a month later, once you have invoiced your client and know for sure the scenes will no longer be needed.
- If I want my session to be put online, do I have to bother with any complicated procedures during the casting?
Absolutely not….it is as simple as recording the session on a VHS machine.
- Do I have to use The Audition Room as a casting venue, in order to also have the Casting Session put online as described here?
No….but there is very specific equipment in our studio needed to enable us to get your casting session online as fast as possible. It is indeed possible for us to put sessions online from a tape you supply us that was not shot here….but this requires dubbing, re-formatting and file conversions of the footage…which will slow the process, and also add considerably to cost.
